DARK AND UNFINISHED ROOM NO MORE

On a recent photo shoot in New York City, I had a moody challenge to overcome. Like many hotel rooms in the city, they can be very dark due to the close proximity of neighboring buildings.
This particular hotel room had a window at the far end that allowed some light in...when the midday sun was directly above the light shaft. Unfortunately for me, the day we photographed this room, it was cloudy. In addition to the cloudy weather, less than half of the plants that were supposed to hang on the grid outside the window arrived.
This is a difficult scenario for any hotel photographer.
This is when I knew I had to be creative with how I lit and photographed the room. I knew I would have to be creative with post production with brightening and warming up the room...along with adding more greenery outside the window.
